Dick's Sporting Goods Park, the 18,000 person stadium, is the home to the Colorado Rapids soccer team. The stadium also boasts 24 outlying fields for concert events, soccer tournaments, and lacrosse. It is an impressive complex with something for everyone, especially on a beautiful Colorado day.
The Anschutz Medical Complex, on the old Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, is the foremost cancer research center in the United States. This medical campus includes the University of Colorado Hospital as well as The Children's Hospital of Colorado.
THE LEGENDARY AMERICAN WEST
During the month of January, Denver hosts the National Western Stock Show , held at The National Western Complex. This 3 week event features rodeos and premium livestock sales and attracts ranchers, farmers, and visitors from all across the U.S. and abroad. Attending the Stock Show makes one feel they are truly experiencing the legendary American West.
Sometimes, one needs to get out and see the local attractions, and Denver has some of the best in the west. The Denver Zoo and Denver Museum of Nature & Science are two of the local favorites. The Denver Zoo is home to over 4,000 animals representing over 700 species from all over the world. With an exciting plan of upgrades over the next 15 years, the zoo will add a conservatory and new exhibits making it one of the premiere zoos in the world. The Denver Museum of Natural History, founded in 1900, features exhibits and galleries for all interests and ages. The museum hosts many national touring exhibits as well as housing a Planetarium and an IMAX theater
